I found this on The Hungry Cyclist’s blog and I love it. It is really well made and ‘takes a poke’ at two area’s of cycling that don’t interest me, racing and ‘fixies’. Personally, my cycling ‘thing’ circles around getting from A to B by using my bike as much as possible.
Welcome to my new site, an idea I had literally this morning (6th July 2009). I bought the domain and had the site online within an hour.
The basic idea is this. After an absence of about 10 years I recently re-discovered the joys of cycling, not just the joys though, not just the great feeling that physical activity can give you, its more than that. Having a very simple machine that can, quite literally, take you around the world for little more than the cost of what it takes to feed your body. I think that this is quite an amazing thing.
We have become so reliant on the car, it gives us much but also robs us of much. Time spent behind the wheel ceases to be living, mostly its just a means of getting from A to B in as little time as possible. Quite often a necessity, but with things as they are at the moment, rarely a pleasure.
I have a car, my family actually have two at the moment, and I cannot for the time being at least, imagine not having one. Their reassuring presence in the drive is something that will be difficult to live without, but, once you start to get your head around it, isn’t an impossibility.
If you have stuck with me so far down all the way down this page and haven’t dismissed me as a crank or eccentric perhaps you would like to come on my journey (many hopefully) from disillusioned motorist to born again cyclist.
